20 part series for Channel 4 following Brits who have left the UK in search of a better life in the Sunshine State. 

This aspirational feel good show will dive into the day-to-day hopes and dreams of the expat community. We will be following cosmetic surgeons, top realtors, bar owners, entertainers, entrepreneurs, golf professionals and soccer team owners as they go about their professional and personal lives.

The cost of living is spiralling out of control. Record numbers of adults are still living with their parents, and, with unaffordable housing, expensive food and the highest tax burden since WW2, it’s no wonder UK emigration levels are the highest they’ve ever been. And it’s hardly surprising that there are nearly half a million forward-thinking Brits who have deployed a Plan ‘B’ and are already living the good life….. 

…..in Florida. The lure of the sunshine state is simply irresistible for Brits even if it is 4,000 miles from home. 

With no income tax they end up being able to save more of their hard-earned cash to spend on what really matters. The majority of the year is warm, and the costs of housing and healthcare all fall below the national average, making finding your dream home even easier. Florida also has one of the nation’s largest GDPs so starting a business is welcomed. There are even British-themed pubs, a pie shop and British supermarkets with Birdseye fish fingers in it!

But is it the paradise as painted by the vacation brochures? To be able to afford the high life, they’ve got to work hard - really hard - to prove they’ve got what it takes to extend their visa and ultimately achieve residency. In this series we follow the lives of the Brits who have left the UK to chase the American Dream and a much larger wage packet. Packed with high octane characters, these will be compelling, aspirational journeys as our cast navigate the complexities of a new country as Donald Trump returns to the White House. It won’t all be plain sailing but the opportunities are there for those prepared to put in hard graft and determination. Will that be enough to land their new dream lives in the Sunshine State?
